IMPORTANT UPDATES: First off, I would like to apologize for all the extra alerts that went out today. The quick explanation is that I picked a bad name for the email list on my end, and someone emailed it by accident, triggering auto-responders, bounces, people replying to all, etc. As soon as I found out what was happening, I had a friend of mine turn off my entire email server, and I have fixed the issue so it should not happen again. I am very sorry for any inconvenience that this caused you all. Now, on to the big announcement. As of the end of the month, I will no longer run the original WootAlert service (this will include the regular Woot alerts and the WineWoot alerts). I am moving away from the IT industry, and do not have the time or money to continue to manage a dedicated server to run this service (I actually have an $200 outstanding bill with by colo company, if anyone feels inclined to hit that PayPal Donate button one more time!). So I will not take any new subscription requests at this time, and I will delete the entire list at the end of the month, so there is no need to send an unsubscribe request. It has been fun to run this service, and I hope that all 4000+ of you have enjoyed using it. If you do want the alert sent to a mobile device, please provide an email address for that device (e.g. #######@vtext.com, #######@cingularme.com, etc). An alert will be send out whenever Woot posts their next item - this includes during Woot-Offs!
